Natasha picked up her cell phone to call Toni, but decided against it. She didn’t want to make things any more tense between the two of them. Instead, she scrolled through her call log until she found Bryan’s name. Hesitating for a few seconds, she finally touched the call button and waited for him to answer.
After a few rings, Bryan answered saying, “Now tell me why in the world you would be calling me this early in the morning. You do realize that it’s about 2:00a.m.”
“I do…and I apologize if I woke you, but I need to talk to you.”
“Oh, this better be good! If you’re still talking about divorce, custody, or any other nonsense, I’m telling you now to go ahead and hang up.”
“No, Bryan. That’s not it at all…,” Ashanti trailed off, not yet ready to finish her thoughts.
“Come on, woman, tell me what the hell you want then,” Bryan said sounding irritated. “I’m not giving you any more money! You have to come home for that!”
Regaining her composure to speak, Natasha said, “Look, Bryan. I’m ready to come to home. I’m ready to be your wife again.”
Laughing, Bryan asked, “What happened? Did your girl leave you? Did she get tired of your lazy ass?”
“No, baby, it’s nothing like that. I see where I went wrong and am very sorry for walking away from my family. I miss you and Devin.”
“So I’m your baby again?” Enjoying the sound of defeat in Natasha, Bryan continued, “You do know that you owe me for your infidelity. I’m not going to make it easy for you because you hurt me.”
Sounding desperate, Natasha responded, “Yes, I completely understand. But I’m willing to do whatever it takes to regain your heart and your trust.”
“We will see about that. When are you coming back?”
“I want to come home right now. I can always come back and get my things later.”
“Nah, once you leave, you aren’t going back. Leave all of that stuff there! It’s been contaminated by your whorish behavior.”
Speaking softly, Natasha said, “Ok, baby. And I’m so sorry. I’m on my way home, baby.” Before Bryan could respond, Natasha ended the call. She left the house in the Victoria’s Secret jogger and t-shirt that she had changed into. She jumped into her dark blue seven-series BMW and drove away from the home that she shared with Toni. Even though Natasha had the urge to call Toni, she didn’t. Instead, she concentrated on making her way to Bryan.
Arriving at her home, Natasha had to ring the doorbell, as she no longer had keys. Bryan opened the door before she could press the bell a second time. “You got here fast.”
“I didn’t want to waste any more time being away from you and our baby boy.”
“You couldn’t have missed us too much or you wouldn’t have stayed gone this long. I still want to know what made you change your mind just like that.”
“Bryan, baby, I told you…I never should have left. I love you and miss you.” Getting close enough to kiss his lips, Natasha said, “Let me show you how sorry I am,” as she pushed her way past Bryan, and into the house.
